Changes on the Farm- CSA Sign-up available!

You wouldn't know it from the weather but things are picking up around here- tray of seedlings are starting to pop up all over the house as we get ready to start planting again in the hoop house. Starting mid February you will start to see some greens at the farmers markets and egg production should start picking up.

Here are some things that are going to change. We will no longer be raising our organic pasture raised chicken. This has been a hard decision but the rising costs of the feed, labor, certification fees, processing and insurance means we would need to be double the prices we are currently at. Organic certification fees and insurance for the chickens alone is over $5000 alone. If we hear that there is a demand we may reconsider in the future. Please let us know your thoughts.

We are doubling our efforts on produce farming this year. We have some new vegetables we are experimenting with as well as some new methods to produce lettuce and greens further into the summer. We are also doubling our shiitake mushroom cultivation!

CSA delivery is going to begin earlier this year- the first delivery will be during the first week of May. This will allow us to get the early strawberries, asparagus, mushrooms, and lots of leafy greens when the farmers markets begin. Pickups this year will be at the Carmel Farmers Market, Farm to Fork at Normandy Farms, a Brownsburg pickup location, and here at the farm. We listened to those who asked for more variety in their boxes as well as for a smaller sized share. Check out the CSA page for more details.

We will still be offering pastured lamb, mushrooms, chicken and duck eggs, in addition to our produce weekly at the farmers market. As always we welcome people to come out to the farm where you can pick your own produce and visit all of the animals!
